Advertising Manager for the Van Wert Times Bulletin and the Paulding Progress IMMEDIATE OPENING Summary Ready to take your advertising sales management career to the next level? A full-time Advertising Sales Manager position is available to oversee the sales management of the Paulding Progress in Paulding, Ohio, and the Van Wert Times Bulletin in Van Wert, Ohio. The Sales Manager will plan and execute print and digital advertising programs by performing the following. In addition to the Advertising Manager’s responsibilities, the candidate will serve as a sales representative for key accounts, as well. Duties and responsibilities include:
Develops and maintains a unified print and digital advertising program that spans print, online and mobile media. Identifies advertising objectives and target markets to take advertising accounts and sales volume to the next level. Collaborates with department heads – including editorial and graphics ¬¬– to outline new policies or sales promotion campaigns. Recruits and trains salespeople as needed. Sells to outside advertising agencies and print, broadcast, and online media representatives to negotiate advertising contracts. Establishes and reviews advertising rates and classifications with the advertising staff, which are applicable to various types of advertising and provides appropriate authorization. Approves monthly sales commissions of sales staff. Reviews daily call sheets to monitor number of sales calls being made and the efficiencies of their sales activities. Tracks sales prospects for all salespeople by using an Excel spreadsheet in order to have all of the Paulding Progress and Times Bulletin’s proprietary contact information in a central data file. Reviews Google Analytics and other metrics regularly to gather data that can be used to report back to the sales staff as well as advertisers. Works to create and direct preparation of sales flyers to support special promotional publications that are printed and distributed throughout the year. Works with the corporate office to develop and manage the advertising department budget. Uses proprietary software (Naviga) to research previous advertisers’ activities and generate reports that detail the sales team’s performance. Performs duties of a sales representative to handle key accounts as well as that of advertising manager.
Represents the Van Wert Times Bulletin and the Paulding Progress at business gatherings or other community-based events.
