It’s been a long time since we’ve been able to extend an invitation to an in person event. And if you’re like us, you’re missing being able to see your industry colleagues in person.

At the end of March, we are holding an event in Columbus we are calling Ohio Newspaper and Collegiate Fellowship Day. It will be a day to recognize our Hooper and Collegiate contest winners, network with new members of our industry and the next generation of journalists and renew old acquaintances.

This is for EVERYONE. Regardless of whether you entered the contests, whether your paper is a daily, weekly or online only.

After a hot buffet luncheon,  we will have an opportunity for our collegiate guests to network with industry professionals. Exchange business cards and resumes, show off a portfolio if they’d like. Best of all, information can be exchanged about any internship or entry level employment opportunities.

Following that we will then have an idea exchange for editorial and advertising folks. Bring your ideas! Show us one of your new special sections or advertising promotions so everyone who attends can leave with at least one idea of something someone else is doing that they can replicate in their own market.

We will conclude the day with roundtable discussions on a variety of topics from open government, postal changes, recruitment and more.

We will have door prize drawings and a limited number of silent auction items to bid on to raise money for the Foundation’s scholarships.

The beauty of this year’s event is you can come for just the day or come in the night before and stay at a hotel of your choosing. The Qwest Conference Center is located in the heart of the Polaris area so there are plenty of choices at every price point.

We can’t wait to see everyone on March 30 and we will have hot coffee and cold drinks waiting.
