The Ohio News Media Association is partnering with Column.us to launch a new version of the Public Notices Ohio website later this year. ONMA joins press associations in Arizona, Florida, California, Colorado, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, and seven other states in switching to Column over the last year.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to roll out a new site later this spring for those who currently use publicnoticesohio.com to search for bids, meeting notices, foreclosures and other important legal notice news items,” said Monica Nieporte, ONMA president and executive director. “The new site will be very user-friendly. Our new partnership with Column will provide a more robust site while also bringing cost savings to the association. It’s important that we maximize our limited resources for the benefit of both our members and their advertisers.”
In addition to modernizing the ONMA's statewide public notice website, Column will also make critical improvements to the accessibility of their site as well as adding improved search and alert functionality for the public. This work will help ensure that public notices in newspapers remain an essential part of Ohio's open government requirements and keep informing the state's citizens on the actions of their state and local governments.
"It’s encouraging to see our Partner Program continue growing already in the new year,” said Jake Seaton, the CEO of Column, “especially as we anticipate the imminent launch of new features that will support our partners’ statewide public notice initiatives. We welcome ONMA to a roster of amazing partners and public notice advocates in our program.”
ONMA will contact member papers as the transition moves forward and provide details on how to upload notices to the new system. While no official date for the transition to the new site has yet been announced, it is expected to take place in the next 3 to 6 months.
