Bellevue Gazette article on paper's closing

From The Bellevue Gazette

The Bellevue Gazette, like the rest of the newspaper industry, has gone through many changes in the almost 149 years it has been published. As we’ve adapted to the digital world, we’ve provided a deeper, richer website filled with local news. Facebook became the platform to engage our readers and Twitter was used to instantly alert you about breaking news. We have reduced expenses and cut publication days.

Unfortunately, these changes have not been enough to help the financial health of the newspaper.

As a result, we are sad to inform you we will no longer publish the Bellevue Gazette.

This will be your last issue.

We regret having to make this decision, however, continued declining circulation and reducing advertising dollars has left the Bellevue Gazette in a position that is no longer economically viable. We had hoped our recent changes and cost reduction would be enough to get the paper on a stable foundation to start building back-up after the huge losses impacted on the newspaper industry in recent years.
