Here is the Foundation’s latest training schedule – programs for all departments

A key benefit of ONMA membership is to participate in free or low-cost training, including many programs that you won’t get anywhere else because we put a specific focus on Ohio issues and concerns.

Here is what we have scheduled between now and year-end so you can mark your calendars:

Boost your sales performance: Lewis VanLandingam, who is part of the nationally known Sandler sales training organization, will lead a half day of training focused on generating new sales revenue, hiring and retaining great sales reps and building consistently high-performing teams. Cost: $75. Date: May 2. To register and for more details, click here.

Follow the political money: Free webinar led by James Pilcher of Enquirer Media, Cincinnati, and adjunct professor teaching data journalism at the University of Kentucky. June 28, 10 a.m. Advance registration required. Click here to register.

Improving your workplace culture: Free webinar led by Bill Albrecht and Jake Myers of GateHouse Media Ohio with a focus on how the culture you create can improve hiring and retention of great employees, particularly in sales. Free webinar; August date to be announced.

Update on Ohio’s public notice laws: ONMA General Counsel Mike Farrell and Executive Director Dennis Hetzel will lead this free webinar to help members follow Ohio’s law in this critical area to our industry and for the pubic. Several bills are pending in the Ohio Legislature that may affect notices. Sept. 27 at 2 p.m.; watch for registration details.

What’s up with Ohio’s sunshine laws: Cincinnati attorney Jack Greiner, one of Ohio’s leading (and most successful) experts on open meetings and open records, is back with a refresher course, tips and the latest developments to help Ohio journalists. Hot topics will include drones and body cameras. This is a free webinar on Oct. 18 at 10 a.m.; watch for registration details.

Covering Ohio’s marijuana industry (tentative): We’re planning a half-day program to help journalists throughout Ohio learn more about the state’s emerging marijuana industry and develop new sources and story ideas. Watch for details.

Circulation topics: Our Circulation Managers Committee is planning webinars on customer service and pricing strategies that work. Watch for details.

Note that ONMA members also receive discounts on national programs offered by the Online Media Campus and many programs offered by the Local Media Association. You always can find programs in the calendar at www.ohionews.org.
