ONMA offering scholarships to the Law and Media Conference on Oct. 13

Early bird deadline for discounted registration is Monday, Oct. 2

This year's Law and Media Conference, which will be held at the Ohio State Bar Association in Columbus on Friday, Oct. 13, focuses on the impact of fake news on both Ohio journalists and the public. The conference will show participants what fake news is (and isn’t), how to spot it, and what to do if you get burned by it.

Other sessions include:

  • Hot Topics in Media Law
  • How the Internet Affects Litigation and Settlement Strategy for Defamation and Privacy Cases
  • Communication is a Two-Way Street
  • The Internet of (Media) Things: Automated News from Your Coffeemaker
  • Public Records Updates
  • and much more.

Each year the Law and Media Conference brings together journalists, lawyers, academics, judges and others to discuss hot media topics. The ONMA is offering $30 scholarships toward the first registration from any member paper. This scholarship will cover the all but $10 of the early bird registration fee if someone registers before Oct. 2. For details, contact the ONA's Sue Bazzoli at sbazzoli@ohionews.org.

The Law and Media Conference is sponsored by the Ohio State Bar Association, the Ohio Newspaper Association, the Ohio Association of Broadcasters, and the Society of Professional Journalists, Central Ohio Chapter. For more information, visit the conference website.
