Circulation Operations Manager

The Lima News is looking for a Circulation Operations Manager (COM). The COM is responsible for the distribution of The Lima News daily newspaper and it’s associated products. The COM will manage, lead and direct employees in the circulation department to achieve excellent customer service and readership growth via independent contractor delivery partners. This includes but is not limited to contract management, expense and revenue management and strategic planning. The COM will work with the circulation leadership team in the development and implementation of growth initiatives; insure product control at the distribution center and at drop sites. This position will lead staff training and development and independent contractor orientation and recruiting.
Required Skills
The Circulation Operations Manager must possess and display excellent communication skills in working with the public and internal and external business partners. Strong negotiations, leadership analytical and budgeting skills are a must. Familiarity with Microsoft office products including Excel, Word, Outlook, preferred. Required Experience High school diploma or equivalent required and at least 5 years of newspaper operations management experience is strongly preferred.
Job Duties
1. Screening, hiring, training, coaching, mentoring, monitoring employee performances, and employee termination when appropriate. 2. Team building with district managers, warehouse staff, transportation drivers and redelivery personnel to insure a healthy working environment. 3. Monitor distribution daily to insure time and service standards are met for all publications. 4. Ensure customer service and delivery deadlines are met. 5. Must possess excellent communication skills, oral and written, to deal with staff, business partners and the public. 6. Responsible for distribution of multiple products daily including Wall Street Journal and New York Times and all Lima News products. 7. Must be capable of managing route optimization to insure routes are profitable for the company while being attractive for independent contractors. 8. Manager must possess strong analytical and math skills and be able to manage and plan a budget. 9. Manager must work to maintain and grow circulation volumes in the market. 10. Responsible for overseeing the contracting of independent contractors for home delivery and single copy sales.
