The basics of drone journalism
What: Drones are a potential game-changer for photojournalists and are being incorporated into media reporting cross the country. This video and conference call will provide simple ways to use drones to aid your paper’s news coverage while also avoiding the many roadblocks along the way, such as Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules regarding altitude, speed and visibility, and not flying over civilians. The video and conference call will be led by Bruce Bishop, Chief Photographer at The Chronicle. Bishop was also an early adopter of drone technology and is an expert at using drones to cover breaking news. He is Part 107 certified by the FAA and has several hundred hours of flight time with drones.
When: Thursday May 30 at 10 am
Cost: Free video and conference call for ONMA members, but registration is required.
